In 1978, five Melbourne based Credit Managers became disgruntled with the credit bureau to which they belonged.
They were concerned with the integrity of some of the other members, and they also felt the content of the meetings did not address their needs as Managers – So the National Credit Group was born!
In 1983 the group expanded to Sydney and today the group has over 70 members from four states.
Members supply goods and services to retail outlets including grocery, pharmacies, electrical and stationers as well as food services.
To ensure our standards are not lowered the details of each potential new member are circulated to the group for approval.
The group has 10 meetings and a conference per annum. The meetings are held:
-
Melbourne – March, May, July, September and November.
-
Sydney – April, June, August, October and December.
The conference is conducted over two days in February and is traditionally held in Albury. It provides a great start to the year and enables members to catch up with each other, gain further knowledge and to be updated with the latest legislation.
The group enjoys a very special relationship with the major customers. Coles (GHPL) attends the conference, Woolworths hosts our November meeting in odd years and Metcash hosts our October meeting in even years. Customer dinners are hosted by the members after these events.
This interaction enables our key customers to update us on their latest changes and in return they gain valuable input from their suppliers.
